U.S – TriMas has announced that its Hamilton, Indiana-based TriMas Packaging factory has successfully achieved Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000), a crucial criterion for present and potential food and beverage customers.
The Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI) FSSC 22000 certification is regarded as one of the highest standards for food safety quality management systems.
“We are very proud of all of those involved who enabled the achievement of this important certification for our Hamilton, Indiana production location.
“Attaining this industry-wide recognized standard reaffirms TriMas Packaging’s commitment to accelerating growth in the food and beverage end market, continuously improving our manufacturing processes and, importantly, enabling the transfer of demonstrated production technology used to support our customers in Europe now into the U.S. market,” stated Fabio Salik, President, TriMas Packaging.
Granted by top testing, inspection, and certification firm SGS, FSSC 22000 for food safety and quality management is an addition to TriMas Packaging’s Hamilton facility’s current certification to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
FSSC 22000 is a widely accepted certification standard for food safety that may be used by all businesses in the food chain, regardless of size or complexity, and it reflects best practices in the sector.
It provides a certification Scheme that incorporates an in-depth hazard analysis in a robust food safety management system to control the food safety hazards, minimize risks, and assure the production of safe packaging and packaging materials.
Along with additional FSSC 22000 certification requirements, the Scheme makes use of international standards including ISO 22000 for food safety management and ISO/TS 22002-4, the sector-specific Pre-Requisite Program (PRP) for food packaging and packaging material.
With the use of these standards, FSSC 22000 makes sure that audits are reliable, consistent, and high-quality. An integrity program is used to measure performance and keep it up so that packaging and materials are delivered safely around the world.
