INDIA – Online food delivery and aggregator platform Swiggy has introduced a new initiative known as the ‘Swiggy Seal’ across 650 cities in India to enhance food quality standards and promote better hygiene practices among its restaurant partners.

The initiative was initially launched in Pune and is set to expand to other cities starting in November. The “Swiggy Seal” will signify restaurants that meet stringent hygiene standards, supported by customer feedback and professional audits, guaranteeing quality meals and reliable packaging.

“Trust ke binna kuchh nahi hai.” Rohit Kapoor, CEO, Food Marketplace, Swiggy, wrote on his official LinkedIn handle while explaining this new feature.

“Swiggy Seal is one such trust-building initiative for us. Through this, we aim to empower partner restaurants to identify areas of improvement and implement effective hygiene practices.”

Swigy has also partnered with FSSAI-accredited agencies like Eurofins and Equinox to offer restaurants access to professional hygiene audits, among other training programmes.

Restaurant menu pages on the Swiggy app will feature a ‘Swiggy Seal’ to indicate partners who have a “proven track record of delivering hygienic, high-quality meals in reliable packaging.”

The company stated that it would utilize feedback from its base of 7 million verified customers, reviewing restaurants’ performance over the past six months to gather insights.

When ordering food on the app, customers will find a blue “Swiggy Seal” mark above certain restaurant names. This Seal identifies eateries that consistently serve hygienic, high-quality meals in reliable packaging.

The badge is granted based on genuine customer feedback and reviews from over 7 million verified users collected over the last six months.

If concerns any concern is raised about a restaurant with the Seal, Swiggy will review the feedback and may withdraw the badge if the restaurant does not uphold the set standards.

According to Swiggy, since the programme’s launch two weeks ago, restaurant partners have shown high interest, with hundreds of requests for hygiene audits already received.

“The Swiggy Seal program aims to elevate restaurant hygiene practices. It offers restaurant partners comprehensive insights and actionable support to ensure the delivery of hygienic, well-cooked food in high-quality packaging,” Swiggy noted.

Meanwhile, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform has also introduced International Logins, a feature that allows users from 27 countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the UAE.

People in the new markets can access all the offerings on the Swiggy app using their international phone numbers. This permanent feature offers a seamless experience while ordering food, shopping on Swiggy’s quick commerce platform Swiggy Instamart, and booking tables through Swiggy Dineout.

Payments can be made easily using international credit cards or available UPI options, making it more convenient than ever to stay connected and enjoy Swiggy’s wide range of services, no matter where they are.
