U.S – Hiland Dairy, a prominent farmer-owned dairy processor, has received recognition for quality and food safety, product quality, and product taste at the 2022 QCS Leadership Conference held in San Diego.
The QCS Quality and Food Safety Plant Assessment Awards are granted to participants who achieve a 96% or higher formal audit score.
The audits are rigorous and conducted by an accredited, approved third-party food safety firm. The award-winning facilities have shown organizational excellence and quality control that meet the highest requirements in the food and beverage sector.
Quality and Food Safety Plant Assessments were given to nine Hiland Dairy Food Plants.
Other companies listed as winners include Alqueria Dairy Freska Leche; Belfonte Ice Cream & Dairy Foods Company, Kansas City, Missouri; Eberhard’s Dairy Products, Redmond Oregon; Galliker Dairy Company, Johnstown, Pennsylvania; and Gandy’s Dairy Products, Inc., Lubbock, Texas among others.
Additionally, a number of Hiland factories were honored with QCS Merit of Excellence Awards in the cultured products, fluid milk, and ice cream categories.
The merit of Excellence Award compliance requirements is far higher than industry standards, posing a difficult but rewarding task.
Hiland Dairy Foods of Little Rock, Arkansas, got first place in the Orange Juice Product Contest, while Hiland Dairy Foods of Wichita, Kansas, obtained the highest points for the best normal Egg Nog.

Awards for product quality and safety represent Hiland’s continued commitment to our customers and consumers that we produce and deliver fresh, wholesome dairy products and other foods,” said Rick Beaman, Vice President of Hiland Dairy Foods.
The awards are managed by QCS Purchasing Cooperative, a non-profit member-owned and managed group for companies engaged in food and beverage production.
It is the largest purchasing cooperative of its kind. By aggregating purchases of common supplies, QCS Purchasing Cooperative provides members with more competitive pricing that they could typically achieve on their own.
In 2013, Quality Chekd Dairies, a member-owned organization of independent dairy processors, announced Hiland Dairy Foods Company of Springfield, Missouri as the recipient of the Irving B. Weber Distinguished Award for Quality Excellence.
In earning the highest scores of all Quality Chekd members in customer satisfaction, production quality, business ethics, leadership, staff development and marketing communications, Hiland Dairy received a distinctive trophy and a U.S$25,000 check for their efforts.
