GLOBAL – Lalaina Randriamanantsoa has returned to the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as Senior Technical Manager.
With a focus on protecting consumers, Lalaina’s wealth of experience delivers a variety of viewpoints and practical approaches to food safety management.
“This is more than just work for me, coming from Madagascar, one of the poorest countries in the world, where access to safe food is not guaranteed and risk mitigation is a constant preoccupation for every person in securing their daily portion of food,” she expressed.
Lalaina has worked in the food and food service industries for more than fifteen years, holding positions in operational excellence, auditing, implementing brand standards, managing auditor approval and integrity programs, second and third-party auditing, government services, and regulatory affairs.
The implementation of GFSI’s audacious and creative projects, specifically the career and professional development of food safety auditors, benefits from Lalaina’s broad spectrum of skills.
She will be primarily responsible for assisting GFSI in achieving its mission to harmonize food safety management in the modern world as consumer preferences shift worldwide toward more sustainable food systems.
She will also enable food safety management to adapt and be inclusive of broader aspects for effective implementation and positive impact.
Lalaina is a trained food technologist and holds an international Master’s Degree in Food Safety Management.
“My passion for consumer protection has kept me connected to the GFSI ecosystem. I am excited to be back at a very dynamic time as GFSI reaffirms its commitment to helping deliver safe food for people everywhere.
“I am also convinced that GFSI is in a unique position to provide the necessary tools to enable emerging markets to pursue safe food production & handling practices,” she said.
She also runs a consultancy firm known as Lalaina Consulting Services (LCS) which offers robust expertise in food safety, quality, and sustainability; complimented by a uniquely methodical and innovative approach.
Lalaina has previously worked as the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager – Supply Chain Food Safety at Yum! Brands, an American fast food corporation listed on the Fortune 1000.
Yum! operates the brands KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and The Habit Burger Grill, except in China, where the brands are operated by a separate company, Yum China.
It recently joined the Coalition together with other two brands, strengthening GFSI’s position of ensuring access to safe food for people everywhere.
The Coalition’s membership now totals 42 Companies, all of whom are members of The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF).
