GERMANY – Food Freshly, the leading German provider of shelf-life solutions, has announced the expansion of its services for businesses in the fresh produce industry at its fruit and vegetable food safety testing facility.
The facility may be used to evaluate products for shelf life in addition to identifying bacteria hazards, giving producers a precise notion of how long a fresh-cut product will be commercially viable.
To aid fresh-cut fruit and vegetable processors in providing goods with the highest degree of safety, Food Freshly has spent the last two years building food safety testing processes at its Bielefeld, Germany laboratory.
“We are operating a laboratory at Food Freshly headquarters with our food scientists, chemists, and biologists.
“We are always looking at new ways to provide processes for the fresh-cut industry to reduce bacteria or to improve food safety. Our team of food scientists, chemists, and biologists are running a lab at Food Freshly headquarters,” Benjamin Singh, Director of Technical Sales at Food Freshly, stated.
Food Freshly can conduct an internal study of all types of potentially dangerous bacteria that may be present in freshly cut meals and can lead to pricey recalls for businesses wanting to discontinue the usage of chlorine treatments.
In addition to ensuring food safety, the company’s laboratories can accurately estimate the shelf-life of ready-to-eat fruits and vegetables when taking specific factors into account.
“We can really narrow it down on where the problems are with specific fruits. For example, is it prone to growing certain microorganisms? Certain fruits carry a lot of bacteria at the start and a lot of vegetables, especially root vegetables, can be the most highly contaminated with bacteria,” Singh explained.
In the future, he claimed, Food Freshly planned to offer a larger range of testing services with the goal of determining the appropriate level of bacterial control for each fruit or vegetable item and offering the best possible countermeasures.
To increase product quality, food safety, and process effectiveness, the company collaborates with fresh-cut processors all around the world. Its Antioxidant blends extend the shelf-life of cut fruits and vegetables to over 21 days.

Food Freshly accomplishes this by utilizing only natural, sulfite- and allergen-free ingredients.
“Food freshly treatments are well-suited to ready-to-eat fruits, such as sliced apples. If you use an organic treatment like Food freshly, you get a 10 to 12-day shelf-life. You can eat them with your fingers, so you don’t need a fork, and that’s an advantage that very few pre-cut fruits have,” said Singh.
The news precedes Food Freshly’s participation in Fruit Logistica 2023, a trade conference for the produce industry where the firm will promote its capacity to increase the shelf-life of freshly cut fruits and vegetables by up to 21 days.
